Get Long Key

Need to use the FTW Transcriber offline, or you’re seeing the message “unable to ping the server to check your key”?

You can resolve both these issues by using your normal license key (your “short” key) to get a free “long key”.

Your short key and your long key can be used interchangeably.  The difference between them is:

• A short key requires you to be online so that the FTW Transcriber can ping our server to check your key.  However, in certain situations, e.g. if your computer’s MAC ID (or PC ID) ever changes, you may see a message that tells you that the license key appears to be in use on another computer.  In that situation you simply reset your key here: http://theftwtranscriber.com/reset-key/?site_type=2
• A long key can be used while online or offline, but if your computer’s MAC ID (or PC ID) changes, you cannot reset a long key – you will need to ask us to give you a new long key.

Each short key that you own enables you to get only ONE long key.

To find your license key, open the FTW Transcriber and click Settings, and you should see it in the top right. If you do not, click “Forgot Key?”, on Settings, to retrieve it.


*Your PC ID is the ID number of the computer on which you want to use the FTW Transcriber. Do not use the PC ID of any other computer. To find your computer’s PC ID, open the FTW Transcriber and click Help, then About, where you will see your 12-digit PC ID. Copy and paste it into the field above, including hyphens.
